The CTK Pastoral Council is a distinct group because of its representative nature, consultative role, and consensus-seeking process. It is consultative to the Pastor. It is also a representative body of the faithful focusing on the whole community. The council provides a means for uniting the parish community in expressing its collective wisdom concerning pastoral plans and activities. The Pastoral Council's task is to give counsel and seek consultation. Its role is to understand, to reflect carefully and prayerfully and to seek consensus. AH Council recommendations and pronouncements will be developed by consensus; however, under certain circumstances, the Pastor and the Council may choose to attain a majority through voting to decide a course of action.Taken from the Pastoral Council Resource Guide, Diocese of Austin.
Membership of the CTK Council is open to all registered Catholic members (in rare circumstances an exception can be made with approval of the pastor) of the community who are willing to commit their time and talent to this ministry and spiritual growth. The following members make up the CTK Parish Council. Taken from the Second Vatican Council Document, DECREE ON THE APOSTOLATE OF THE LAITY
"In dioceses, insofar as possible, there should be councils which assist the apostolic work of the Church either in the field of evangelization and sanctification or in the charitable, social, or other spheres, and here it is fitting that the clergy and Religious should cooperate with the laity. While preserving the proper character and autonomy of each organization, these councils will be able to promote the mutual coordination of various lay associations and enterprises."

Taken from the Second Vatican Council Document, CONSTITUTION ON THE SACRED LITURGY
"It is desirable that the competent territorial ecclesiastical authority mentioned in Art. 22, set up a liturgical commission, to be assisted by experts in liturgical science, sacred music, art and pastoral practice. So far as possible the commission should be aided by some kind of Institute for Pastoral Liturgy, consisting of persons who are eminent in these matters, and including laymen as circumstances suggest. Under the direction of the above-mentioned territorial ecclesiastical authority the commission is to regulate pastoral-liturgical action throughout the territory, and to promote studies and necessary experiments whenever there is question of adaptations to be proposed to the Apostolic See."

SOCIAL MINISTRIES
The Grief Group meets every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., and is open to anyone who has had the loss of a significant other. The group supports the individual so they do not feel alone and gives them a safe environment to express their feelings and to work through the grieving process with the hope that growth will occur.

Key Concepts:
"Our faith is profoundly social. We cannot be called truly 'Catholic' unless we hear and heed the call to serve those in need and work for justice and peace.""This tradition is not empty theory; it challenges our priorities as a nation, our choices as a Church, our values as parishes. It has led the Church to stand with the poor and vulnerable against the strong and powerful. It brings occasional controversy and conflict, but it also brings life and vitality to the People of God. It is a sign of our faithfulness to the gospel."
"The parishes that are leaders in this area see social ministry not as a specialized ministry, but as an integral part of the entire parish. They weave the Catholic social mission into every aspect of parish life - worship, formation, and action. They follow a strategy of integration and collaboration which helps keep social ministry from being isolated or neglected."
For the many, not the few "We are called to be the 'salt of the earth' and 'light of the world' in the words of the Scriptures. (cf Mt 5:13-16) This task belongs to every believer and every parish. It cannot be assigned to a few or simply delegated to diocesan or national structures. The pursuit of justice and peace is an essential part of what makes a parish Catholic,"
"We need to build communities of faith where our social teaching is central, not fringe; where social ministry is integral, not optional; where it is the work of every believer, not just the mission of a few committed people and communities."
God, source of all light, we are surrounded by the darkness of the injustices experienced by your people, the poor who are hungry and who search for shelter, the sick who seek relief, and the downtrodden who seek help in their hopelessness.Surround us and fill us with your Spirit who is Light. Lead us in your way to be light to your people. Help our parish to be salt for our community as we share your love with those caught in the struggles of life.
We desire to be your presence to the least among us and to know your presence in them as we work through you to bring justice and peace to this world in desperate need.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Chirst, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

In 1894 the Czech women of Yoakum, Texas organized the Katolicka Jednota Zen Rodin Texaskych (KJZT). In English it means the union of Czech Catholic women of Texas. The primary Grounds and Facility maintenance responsibility has been assumed by the Knights of Columbus Council and Assembly, headed by our beloved and trusted Sir Knight, Rudy Delgado. Each week you can see him and other good men, cutting grass, picking up trash, sweeping the parking lot, etc. God Bless Them All for they are invaluable in the upkeep of the Parish.
