 Acolytes assist the Priest and Deacon during Mass. They are selected and trained by the Parish Priest after a period of discernment. They must be Confirmed and active practicing Catholics. They have major roles in liturgies throughout the year. They serve as Permanent Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist and are appointed for life. They will expose/repose the Eucharist in the absence of a Priest or Deacon during Adoration. They will conduct Communion Service’s (without Preaching/Homily) if needed when there is no Priest or Deacon available. They will take Communion to the hospital, nursing homes, and the homebound as needed.
